Research and Postgraduate System

About the Scientific Research and Postgraduate System

The National University of Agriculture (UNAG) has among its substantive functions
, the management of knowledge and the development of scientific research and technological innovation in areas of institutional competence. It bases its academic activity and the generation of scientific knowledge on the principles of freedom of research, learning and teaching to promote the integral development of students and the professional development of teachers.

UNAG trains professionals and researchers on scientific, ethical and humanistic bases and promotes scientific and technological research of high academic level to contribute to the improvement of the social, cultural, political and economic life of the country and the Central American region. It guarantees its social commitment through the development of academic and research programs that address and prioritize the problems of Honduras and the region, applicable to the development of the agricultural sector and related areas. University research must respond to the
policy, agenda and priority lines of scientific and technological research, and be developed in accordance with the principles and goals established by the Institution.

In order to fulfill its functions of generation and transfer of knowledge, technologies and innovation, and the development of graduate studies, UNAG has a Research and Graduate Studies System (SIP), composed of research and graduate units in the Faculties and Departments, Research Centers and Institutes, Research Councils and Groups, and independent Researchers
.

The SIP Directorate is responsible for supervising, coordinating and
stimulating research and high-level postgraduate studies at the institution. It promotes and supports, as a priority, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary projects, programs and studies carried out in the academic and research units. Likewise, it provides the necessary mechanisms so that the product of research is transferred to society.

As instruments that regulate the operation of the SIP, there is the
University Research Policy and the Regulations of the Research and Postgraduate Studies System, which establish the normative bases for the organization, promotion, development and financing of research and postgraduate studies at the National University of Agriculture.
