School of Earth and Conservation Sciences

The environmental problem of Honduras and the planet is the result of a complexity of determinants and is a situation that has worsened in recent years, preventing millions of people from living a dignified life and putting at risk a high percentage of the world's biodiversity. The Faculty of Earth and Conservation Sciences is committed to finding solutions to this problem through effective knowledge management, which is evident in its Mission and Vision.

Within its fundamental tasks, the Faculty is responsible for developing the management of knowledge in Earth Sciences and Conservation through a logical, organized and systematic process that allows innovation and contributes to the solution of society's problems, strengthening quality and relevance in the actions of Higher Education and its responsibilities to the National University of Agriculture and the State; putting into practice technological innovation in all university functions.

Among the main objectives of the Faculty is the formation of high quality human talents, trained in the critical review of literature and in the application of updated methodologies for the solution of problems related to Earth Sciences, conservation of natural resources and environmental protection. Morally and intellectually trained professionals, integral, committed to society, with the ability to create knowledge and contribute to the protection and conservation of natural resources and the environment of the planet, seen as a complex system.

For this, a fundamental integrative approach is implemented in the study of the earth system, emphasizing the relevant interactions between chemical, physical, biological and geological processes, analyzing the disturbance that can cause the earth dynamics in society, with an integrative vision capable of articulating the different aspects of the Earth-Environment-Society system and generating a deep knowledge of the Earth-Water-Atmosphere system; by conducting scientific and applied research in the field of Earth Sciences and Conservation and strengthening the link between the National University of Agriculture and society, as a way to promote sustainable development and contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the Honduran people.
